Exactly fifteen years to the date that Drew Brees announced he was the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, he has announced his retirement from professional football.
It’s the end of an era for both Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, as the Saints franchise will have a different starting quarterback for the first time in fifteen years.
Who takes over after Drew Brees?
What about Jameis Winston? What about Taysom Hill?
We’ll learn more in the coming days, but for now, let’s all just take a moment to be thankful for what Drew Brees has given us. He turned a laughing stock franchise in the NFL to a yearly contender, and brought the Lombardi trophy to New Orleans just a few short years after one of the most devastating natural disasters of all time in the Gulf Coast.
Thank-you, Drew. Thank-you. We’ll miss you.
