POLL: Grade the Saints Jameis Winston signing

How would you grade the Saints one-year contract for Jameis Winston?

Whether you love the move or hate it, the New Orleans Saints are bringing back quarterback Jameis Winston on a one-year deal to compete for the starting quarterback job in 2021.

Initial reports are that the contract has a base salary of $5.5 million, with the chance for Jameis to earn up to $12 million in incentives. This number seems small when compared to the “funny money” $140 million dollar “extension” recently signed by Taysom Hill.

But for context, Jameis isn’t the only quarterback to sign a one-year deal this free agency. Former MVP and fellow number one overall pick Cam Newton signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots. After starting the majority of 2020 for the Pats, Cam’s one-year contract has a base salary of $5.1 million, but he can earn $6.6 million if he is the starter in New England. Cam’s contract includes incentives that could earn him as much as $13.6 million.

Former Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Andy Dalton also signed a one-year deal, his with the Chicago Bears, with a potential shot at becoming the starting quarterback in Chicago in 2021. Dalton’s deal is for $10 million, with a potential to earn up to $13 million after incentives. Another $10 million dollar, one-year deal was signed by Ryan Fitzpatrick with the Washington Football Team that could grow to $12 million in incentives.

So when looking at those players and the money thrown at them to sign a one-year contract, how would you grade the Jameis Winston move for the Saints? Vote in the poll. Explain in the comments. Send me presents.
