Saints add to weakest free agent position in recent NFL.com mock draft

He would look awfully good next to Demario Davis.

We are getting closer and closer to the 2021 NFL Draft, and the New Orleans Saints may finally have an answer at quarterback, whether it be Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston. That being said, we can hopefully move away from mocking college quarterbacks to the Saints in round one of mock drafts.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com took this to heart in his recent mock, not only avoiding quarterback for New Orleans, but the entire offensive side of the ball:

Zaven Collins - Tulsa · LB · Junior (RS)

The ultra-versatile Collins would give the Saints a dynamic second-level defender with pass-rush skills.

The New Orleans Saints have an obvious need at the linebacker position after the release of Kwon Alexander and the team likely passing on Alex Anzalone, and the draft is likely the easiest way to fill this position of need.

The wide receiver free agent class is still incredibly deep, and there are defensive linemen and linebackers getting released by NFL teams every week it seems. The Saints have multiple positions of need, including linebacker, defensive line, wide receiver, tight end, and cornerback, but the free agent class of linebackers might be the worst of the lot. If the Saints want to find someone to pair with Demario Davis, they could do a lot worse than Zaven Collins.
