Whew. That sure was a doozy, wasn’t it?
The New Orleans Saints surprised most of the NFL world last night by selecting Houston defensive end and edge rusher Payton Turner with the 28th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. To say Saints fans had immediate disappointment might be an understatement. While “dream” targets of the Saints like cornerbacks Caleb Farley, Patrick Surtain, Jaycee Horn, and Greg Newsome were off the board by the time the Saints were on the clock, there were still plenty of intriguing names Saints fans might have been excited about.
Saints fans might be slowly warming on the pick (or at least becoming less antagonistic), but here were some of the best reactions from last night:

I get why people hate the Payton Turner pick, but he has a VERY high ceiling and can be great. Lets take a step back and welcome our new Saint!
Payton Turner is a reach. I don’t really think that’s up for debate. But that doesn’t really matter if he ends up being good. Let’s see what the roster looks like going into camp before we freak out.
