Some online gaming sites have begun to release their 2021 project win totals. The New Orleans Saints are coming off four straight seasons with 10 or more wins. DraftKings sportsbook is one of the sites with their early totals posted. All Saints opponents for the 2021 season are also known. Additionally, a 17th game has been added to the schedule. This is the New Orleans Saints projected win total for 2021 over/under odds.

Reviewing the 2021 opponents for the New Orleans Saints will help determine the win total. The Saints have nine away games and eight home games. Due to the Saints finishing first in the NFC South last season, the Saints draw a possibly difficult schedule for 2021. The good news for the Saints is the draw of the divisional opponents. New Orleans plays the NFC East and AFC East in 2021. Each of these divisions had sub-.500 and rebuilding teams last season.

A look at the Saints 2021 opponents

The New Orleans Saints have several winnable road games in 2021. Games at the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Football Team can be considered winnable. Questionable games are at the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans.

Home games in 2021 should again be difficult for incoming teams. Fans are expected back in the Super Dome and could prove difference makers in some of these games. Winnable home games for the Saints include the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins. More difficult games will be against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, and Green Bay Packers.

DraftKings sportsbook has placed the New Orleans Saints win total at exactly nine wins. Both the over and under are set at -110 odds. This number is set on the basis of winning $100 on a single play. For instance, to win exactly $100 on the Saints win total, a single bet of $110 would have to be made.

Can the Saints get to 10 wins in 2021?

To get over nine wins, the Saints will have to find wins on the road this year. The Saints can get to three wins with a sweep against either Atlanta or Carolina. The NFC East teams should contribute wins as well. No team in the NFC east had over seven wins in 2020. Taking two or three games against this division is very possible. This leaves games against the Buccaneers(twice), Bills, Dolphins, Packers, Patriots, Seahawks, Titans, and Jets. Finding four more wins for the Over within these opponents is key to this line.

A sweep against the NFC East almost assures that the Saints will go over the nine win total. In the 2020 regular season, the Saints also swept the Buccaneers. Splitting this years games is not outside the realm of possibility. The Saints get likely wins against at home against the Dolphins and at the Jets. Unknown opponents like the Patriots, Seahawks, and Packers makes this win total questionable. It’s hard to imagine that the Patriots have two bad years in a row. Unhappy quarterbacks can undermine both the Seahawks and Packers seasons. Due to this, the New Orleans Saints should be able to get over the nine win total from DraftKings.

It can be argued that the Saints play only four games that are truly losses on the entire season. Super Bowl contenders and champions make up most of these games. Two games against the Buccaneers, the Bills and Packers but at home are the most difficult on the schedule. DraftKings has certainly kept the Saints win total close to what is likely. For a team returning starters across the field in 2021, the Saints are likely to go over the assigned nine-win total.
