Saints sign Deuce Wallace to secondary

This is not the signing you were looking for.

The New Orleans Saints have added a defensive back!

That’s the good news. Bad news? It’s not veteran cornerback Richard Sherman. Instead, it’s former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun safety Deuce Wallace.

Wallace is the son of former University of Louisiana quarterback Donnie Wallace, and last played for the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2019, where according to the UL biography, Wallace:

...appeared in all 14 games and made five starts in 2019…Was a Burlsworth Trophy and Wuerffel Trophy nominee…In his final season, he was credited with 22 tackles, 1.0 tackle-for-loss and one pass breakup…Finished five games with two tackles and two games with three tackles…Against Texas Southern (Sept. 14), he recorded two tackles and his 1.0 tackle-for-loss…Notched a pass breakup against Troy (Nov. 23)…His two, three-tackles games came against ULM (Nov. 30) and Appalachian State (Dec. 7).

This is likely nothing to get too excited about, as it’s most likely just a move to add a camp body to the Saints roster. Wallace should be considered a long-shot to make the team at this point.
