The New Orleans Saints are currently passing the torch presumably to quarterback Jameis Winston after decades of future Hall of Famer Drew Brees. The work ethic of Brees has led the Saints to years of success and wins, but now with Winston at the helm can he pick up where Brees left off?

Being the successor to one of the best quarterbacks of all time doesn't happen often. But Winston has done everything he can this offseason to make sure he is successful next season - he has spent this offseason with teammates, trainers, and even teaching the youth about the game of football.
Most notably, Winston has worked out with a professional trainer, James Everett, also known as “Route God.” Winston has been joined by teammates Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway, Juwan Johnson, and Tony Jones Jr. at various parts of his training. These receivers have all been working on routes, cuts, and making catches, all with Jameis Winston as their quarterback.
Winston is not only building chemistry with his teammates, but he's also in the film room teaching and learning with them. Winston’s time with “Route God” goes all the way back to Winston’s time in Tampa Bay where Everett trained both Winston and Tampa wide receiver Chris Godwin. This year, Winston invited some of his teammates to work out with him and Everett in place of Godwin. Everett talked with NewOrleans.Football writer Nick Underhill (subscription required) where he said, “Jameis is one of those people that the media doesn't give enough credit to, bro is a workhorse...he's just amazing to be around.”
One of the main concerns with Winston, when he was in Tampa, was if he had the right mindset, and since joining the Saints and sitting behind Drew Brees you can see Winston start to evolve. Everett said, “When it comes down to it, money will never be an issue because he's going to go broke trying to be the best he can be”.
Before the 2021 NFL Draft, Jameis Winston was also spotted working out with teammates Ty Montgomery, Adam Trautman, and Juwan Johnson in San Diego with Drew Brees’s old trainer, Todd Durkin.
Winston is expected to take the reigns of the team this season, and he has a lot of young players around him that also need to grow. It could be a sign that Winston has matured as a leader by inviting these young players to come work with him to try and build chemistry.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports has a very close relationship with the Saints and coach Sean Payton, and in Glazer’s free time, he is a personal trainer, focusing on boxing and fitness. Jameis Winston was joined by Tre’Quan Smith and Ty Montgomery working out with Jay Glazer as posted on Glazer’s Twitter account.

Jameis Winston is doing all of the right things to be a successful quarterback at a high level in the NFL, so now we just need to see it on the field. Next up comes minicamp and training camp, where we can finally see how much Jameis Winston’s work has paid off.
