Pregame Thoughts: Saints vs Giants

As kickoff approaches and inactives have been announced, have the feelings changed?

The New Orleans Saints are less than an hour away from their matchup with the New York Giants inside the Caesars Superdome.

With the Sants sitting at 6-7 and tied for first in the NFC South, a win today will go a long way in keeping your playoff hopes alive.

However, many key players for the Black and Gold are out for today’s game, with Chris Olave, Ryan Ramcyzk, and more joining Mike Thomas and others who have been out for some time.

How do injuries change the confidence of the fanbase heading into today?

Who will Carr throw to?

With Olave out, that means three of your receivers are out for today’s game. Now, Rashid Shaheed will be your #1 target in the passing game with Juwan Johnson, Taysom Hill, Jimmy Graham, Keith Kirkwood, and others having to step up. Hill has been great for you over the last couple of weeks, but he will have to have an even bigger role in the passing game today.

Can the D stop the run?

Saquon Barkley comes into this contest fifth in the league in rushing yards per game, scoring two touchdowns in their last game. In addition, Tommy Devito can run when necessary, and the Saints have struggled to slow down QBs that have the ability to run the football. One of the biggest keys for this game will be stopping the high-powered attack of the Giants.

Final Thoughts

The vibe coming into this game is very hard to figure out because the Saints need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, but what good will the playoffs be if you get matched up with a team like the Cowboys or Eagles?

The Saints are very capable of winning this game even with all the key pieces out with injury. The biggest key for the Black and Gold will be consistency and finding an offensive rhythm while halting the Giants on the other side.
