Saints Sit/Start against LA Rams: Week 16

Who is lacing up the cleats on Thursday Night Football?

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

It’s a short resting week for the New Orleans Saints as they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. As the playoff battle is heating up, both teams are looking to gain divisional leverage. With both teams standing at 7-7, this game will be a chase for a needed win to be in the hunt for a playoff spot. As a fantasy league team, managing your roster is always crucial for maximizing points. So, with tonight’s game, selecting who to start from the Saints will be conducive to obtaining some heavy points. Let’s look at who you may want to start this week against the Rams.

Derek Carr: Start

In Sunday’s 24-6 win over the Giants, Carr completed 23 of 28 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns. The three touchdown passes marked a new high for Carr considering a rough season. Despite the Saints’ short receiving core, Carr steps in Thursday night’s game with a 16:7 TD:INT ratio into Thursday’s game against the Rams.

Chris Olave: Start

Although Rashid Shaheed, Lynn Bowden, A.T. Perry and Keith Kirkwood are the healthy wide receivers on New Orleans’ active roster, Olave has been cleared to play in tonight’s game. Expect to see some target receiving point from him.

Michael Thomas: Sit

He’s been injured for four weeks, so his 21-day practice window can be opened at any time. Coach Dennis Allen didn’t have a timetable for Thomas’ return, and stated the veteran wideout isn’t ready yet.

Jimmy Graham: Start

Graham scored his third red-zone touchdown early in the fourth quarter after catching a play-action pass from the one-yard line. On just six receptions, he’s now scored four touchdowns — all in the red zone.

Taysom Hill: Start

Hill failed to complete his lone passing attempt and logged one rush for one yard while catching his only target for a four-yard reception during Sunday’s 24-6 victory over the Giants. Hill wasn’t used much last week albeit his first game back. Expect to see him in his normal Swiss army role against the Rams.

Alvin Kamara: Start

In Sunday’s 24-6 win over the Giants, Kamara rushed 16 times for 66 yards and caught all five of his targets for 44 yards. He rushed for the most yards, catches, and carries against New York. Expect to see more rushing from him this week.

Defense: Sit

A lot of major pieces to the Saints defense that are out or questionable. I would definitely start another defense.

Marcus Maye: Shoulder (IR)

Payton Turner: Toe (IR)

Lonnie Johnson: Knee (Q)

Marshon Lattimore: Knee (IR)

Cam Jordan: Ankle (Q)

Carl Granderson: Shoulder (Q)
