I'll have what Butler's having...

"Yeah, they were the worst defense," Butler said. "But you look at the players, we don't have the worst defensive players. These are guys who are Super Bowl champions, Pro Bowls at one point. These are great teammates. These are great football players. "You get a guy like Rob, you get a guy like Keenan Lewis and you add him to the secondary, you get a guy like me who can come in and help guys pick up this defense, and you're going to see a hell of a defense. That's what I'm expecting. A hell of a defense. "We've already got the players to be the No. 1 defense. You get a defensive coordinator in there, a guy who's going to be compassionate and convey that passion to the players, I wouldn't be surprised if we were the No. 1 defense in all categories next year."

Exhibit 54-c on Why We Shouldn't Get Too Excited About the Draft Yet

"And then there was Boise State wide receiver Titus Young. Confident, entertaining, charming and, most of all, polite. Young was one of the best interviews we ever had in Mobile. He shook hands and made eye contact and his answers came off more as casual conversation than rehearsed rhetoric. He captivated the small audience from the National Football Post. Titus Young was a well-spoken gentleman who was going places. We were all convinced. Too bad it was just an act."

Mark Ingram : facing eight in the box

+

PFF gives us a look at the number of times running backs with at least 100 carries faced eight defenders in the box last season. Mark Ingram ranked seventh on this list, facing eight in the box on 25,64% of his carries when the league average is 23,25%. For the sake of comparison PT Cruiser only ranked 36th with 12,38%. It shows the Ingram was somewhat misused last year. The lack of originality in the way he was used (Run between the tackles on first down / obvious rushes late in garbage time) allowed defensive coordinators to disrespect our running game? No wonder Sean Payton pointed out improving the running game as a key focus for next season and it will obviously start with improving the play calling.
